When creating listings and accounts I want to assign multiple categories so that users can properly filter their results.
For example, we have a partnership with Fanatics which sells a lot of different things. As an account, we want them to appear under a category of fashion as well as a category of sports. For their listing, we want the same listing to appear under a category of Apparel, Sports, Football, Baseball, and ICN Partner.
Is there a way to do this today that I am missing? If not, can this be an added feature?
Regarding your request to assign multiple categories for a single account, we currently do not have this feature available. However, we will add this to our new feature request roadmap. When it becomes available or if I have any updates, I will inform you.
Yes, while categories are typically used for a single classification, you can achieve multi-category behavior today by using multi-select attributes instead.
Instead of assigning a listing or account to multiple categories, you can:
1. Create a custom attribute like “Tags” or “Topics”.
2. Enable multi-select for that attribute.
3. Add values such as: Apparel, Sports, Football, Baseball, ICN Partner, etc.
This way, a listing or account can be tagged with multiple relevant topics, and users can filter by any of those when browsing.
Why this approach works better:
• It offers more flexibility than rigid category structures.
• Filtering becomes easier and more dynamic.
• It avoids duplicating listings or overcomplicating the category tree.
If you still want these filters to be prominent in your app UI, we can help you configure the layout or search options to show these attributes just like categories.
