Question: Once a visitor signs in to the market place…do they automatically become a buyer & seller at the same time?
e.g With a limit of say 500 accounts does it mean visitors who signed up and never wished to be sellers are taking up or locking out other potential sellers?

As you said every user who signup is your marketplace user but they are not a seller automatically. Every user who wish to become a seller need to create a seller account on top of user signup. Then only it’s considered into accounts.
You can always monitor the number of accounts under the reports page in superadmin to verify.
