USA State Sales Taxes

In the US, taxes vary from state to state, and online marketplaces are required to collect applicable sales tax once a certain threshold is reached.

Is there a way to set up different tax rates in Superadmin conditioned on a criteria (e.g. sale by seller in Connecticut, or sale by seller in Texas)? Or is the functionality limited to a tax rate applied across all transactions?

Thanks!

I’m actually looking at Stripe documentation and it seems like Stripe can apply sales tax accurately. Will Tradly’s checkout be able to show the tax at checkout?

Hi, wondering if theres an answer to this? If Tradly can’t add tax rates conditioned on different jurisdictions at checkout, can the Stripe API be added in such a way that the checkout page can display appropriate tax rates from Stripe?

If not, this is a killer for projects based in the US as marketplaces here are required to collect sales tax for every jurisdiction in which they operate.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi @jrosenthal.ma
We are still in discussion internally about this. It is not a straightforward task but we are prioritising this for our next quarter roadmap. We will keep you posted once it is done.

Hi - wondering if there has been any progress on this feature?

We have started analyzing this feature and plan to release it by April. We’d love your input on a few key areas.

Planned Flow:

Admin Side (Superadmin Panel)

We will introduce additional fields in the tax settings to collect:

  • State (for both destination and source selection)(same-state vs. interstate).
  • Country
  • Tax Rate (%)
  • Product Category (optional)

Phase2:
Tax exemption on seller level, Product Category level.

Additionally, in Superadmin → Transactions, you will be able to view and export tax records. Tax details will also be visible in the Order Details page.

Buyer Side (Checkout Process)

  • When a buyer enters their delivery address, tax will be calculated automatically.
  • If the seller and buyer are in the same state, a specific tax rate will apply.
  • If the seller and buyer are in different states, the tax rate will adjust based on the state’s tax rules.

End-User Marketplace Website

  • Tax details will be visible in the Order Details page.
  • Users can also find tax breakdowns in the Transaction page.

Would you like to provide any additional input or considerations that might be important for your use case? Let us know!
